The professional satisfaction I felt years ago while fundraising for my alma mater remains the same today in my business of providing fundraising training and coaching to fundraisers.
However, like any 'human being', I also have days I don’t feel super satisfied in my existence as a 'human doing'. 'Do I really need to organization all my expense receipts yet again?!' is a question I constantly dreaded.
Thankfully I’ve had time to figure out what caused those dreaded days. I determined that the biggest thorn in my side that seriously hinders the sense of serenity I am striving for is when my team is working with a client whose values don’t align with ours.
I’m sharing our values this month to hopefully attract more of the clients, partners, service providers, and fun folks with whom we can co-create days of joy and satisfaction in fundraising work. Here they are!
GROWTH & CO. VALUES
Wellbeing – Our wellbeing (physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental) takes priority over work (achievement and growth can’t happen without it)
Safety – We provide and require safe and brave spaces for ALL people to speak, listen, and learn without threat
Trust – In our relationships, sharing of appropriate information occurs, information is not withheld, and information is protected (what’s important to me is safe with you and vice versa)
Love – We have love for each other and appreciation for our shared experiences as imperfect humans
Contemplation – We take time and space to cultivate awareness and knowledge before making decisions
Serenity – We strive for a workspace that enables our bodies, minds, and hearts to be in a state of calm as much as possible in this fast-paced world
Achievement – We try as hard as possible to reach our goals (without sacrificing our health!)
Growth – We are constantly growing and discovering the best versions of ourselves alongside others
